We already count close to 450 active members in a network that keeps growing strongly.

ADAN was founded in Frankfurt am Main in 2014 by an initiative of young, ambitious students with African roots. The goal? To make diversity in German society visible and to foster it. Our network now counts more than 600 members and continues to grow. ADAN is an inclusive network of Afro-German and Africa-minded students, professionals, trainees and academics that wants to convey a nuanced picture of the African continent, of Africans and of Afro-Germans.

ADAN is a network unlike any other in the German-speaking world, bringing together students, professionals and companies or organisations. We offer our members a platform for building contacts with companies and organisations, for personal and professional development, and for actively shaping the conversation on topics that concern Black People of Colour (BPoC) and the African diaspora. Through their voluntary work, ADAN members gather valuable experience by getting involved in our many projects and bringing their own ideas to life. Project management, communication, strategic planning, event organisation and intercultural competence are just a few of the many skills you can pick up with us and put to good use in your working life.

What we do

Through a range of offerings and events, ADAN helps create a nuanced picture of Afro-Germans, Africans and the African continent. At the same time, we make diversity visible in German society.

Through regular activities such as our get-togethers, workshops and our career fair, we provide a platform for exchange and networking. ADAN members and Africa-minded students, professionals, trainees and academics can take part in a wide range of events.

You will find an overview of our activities and formats and the next dates near you here.
